Hannu Rouhiainen, age 64, passed away peacefully on July 12th, 2026, in Richmond, Texas after a long term diagnosis of multiple sclerosis. He was a caring husband and father, and he passed surrounded by the love of his family.
Born in Kuusankoski, Finland on October 20th, 1961, Hannu lived his life always looking for new experiences and adventure. After serving in the Finnish Defence Forces and graduating with a master’s degree in electrical engineering, Hannu traveled to the United States to explore new and exciting job opportunities in Wisconsin. There, he met and fell in love with his wife of 34 years, Sandra. Together, they raised a family that became their pride and joy: Adam (Aryel) and Mary (Frank). After moving to Texas in 1998, Hannu worked as a computer scientist for Halliburton for 12 years before retiring.
Before MS limited his mobility, Hannu loved spending time outdoors and was always looking for new experiences to enjoy with his family, from exploring the mountains of Big Bend National Park, learning new historical facts at national landmarks across the country, and visiting every museum he could. After retiring, Hannu embraced learning new hobbies. He found joy in painting and became an active member of the Katy Amateur Radio Society, where he connected with others over their shared interest in radio technology. His happiest memories were always the ones with Adam and Mary: playing video games, swimming outside, going on bike rides, travelling to Disney World, and watching them graduate college.
Hannu will be remembered for his curiosity, perseverance, and devotion to his family and his faith. His family and friends will miss him dearly.
