Funeral services with visitation and burial on site will be held at 9:00 am on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at Forest Park Southwest Funeral Home and Cemetery, 9040 FM 359, Richmond, Texas.
Harlene was born in Leavenworth, Kansas to Harlan West and Alice Harrison on October 16, 1942. She graduated from Leavenworth High School on May 31, 1961, and then graduated from St. Lukes Hospital School of Nursing on September 5, 1964. She worked as a cardiac and respiratory nurse for much of her career before she retired early to be a home maker for her spouse. She married Eugene Piekenbrock on June 20, 1980, in Contra Costa County, California. Her favorite hobbies included gardening, eating out (especially Mexican where she could enjoy a margarita), and going to the bookstores.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Piekenbrock, her parents Harlan West and Alice Bozarth, and her sister, Connie West.
She is survived by her daughter, Susan Savelli; daughter, Charlotte Hull; son, Michael Hunepohl; grandchildren Johnny Hunepohl, Connor Hash, Ashley Baker, and Brayden Hull; and her beloved dog, Walmart.
In honor of Harlene, her favorite color was yellow, and the family asks if you would kindly wear this color during the service.
