Born November 29, 1964, in Duncan, Oklahoma to Herman and Joy Hays, Mellany graduated from Duncan High School in 1983. Moving to Houston, Texas in 1993, Mellany began working as a Claim Processor and continued this career for 30 years, including the last 20+ years at Community Health Choice.
In 1995, Mellany met Terrell Page at Peter’s Wildlife of Houston, quickly forming a deep bond, rooted in enduring love and devotion which never wavered for 30 years. Those that knew Mellany knew that her love and devotion to her children was monumental. She made sure her boys were busy, whether it be the many trips to Galveston to play on the beach, outings to Astro-World, or fishing from Terrell’s boat, her boys were her priority.
Then, along came her grandbabies, Mellany was obsessed. Earning her name “MerMer”, she would buy gifts year-round to surprise them on their birthday, or just to surprise them. And being the caregiver she was, if one of them were sick, she was sick, not resting until they were well. Absolutely no better MerMer ever!
Mellany is preceded in death by her long-time partner, Terrell Page, Father, Herman Hays, Mother, Joy Hays, and Brother, David Hays. She is survived by her sons, Nicholas Roach (Spouse: Roxana Roach), Spencer Taylor Roach (Spouse: Molly Roach), Brother Terry Hays, Sister Chrystal Giumentaro, Brother Russell Hays, her grandchildren Adalynn Lopez, Addalyn Roach, Larry Roach, and Aileen Roach.
Mellany worked hard, but loved laughing with friends and family, she always made sure that everyone was having fun. If you were her guest, you felt special, and you never left hungry. Never one to turn down some professional wrestling on TV or a good card game, Mellany was the life of the party.
Her heart of gold and deep loving nature will be cherished and will live on in the hearts of those she knew and loved.
Pallbearers will be Nicholas Roach, Spencer Roach, Russell Hays, Terry Hays, Larry Roach, Stephen Giumentaro, Darius Standridge.
