Mia Sang Yorkey

Mia Yorkey, 57, of Richmond Texas, a vibrant soul born, Kim Sang Mi, January 14, 1969, in Seoul, Korea, passed away unexpectedly, on June 19, 2026, at the age of 57. As the eldest of five siblings, Mia stepped up with remarkable strength after losing her father at just eight years old. She helped raise her younger siblings while their mother worked hard to provide for the family. At age 11, she was adopted by a loving American family, with her two younger sisters, brother, and gained an older American brother in her new home. With grace and resilience, Mia guided her younger siblings through the challenges of a new country, language, and culture, becoming a steady source of support as they built a life together in America.

Mia’s outgoing and loving personality, confidence, and fierce determination defined her journey. She embraced life on her own terms, carving out a successful career in the beauty industry. An extremely talented and passionate cosmetologist, she mastered the art of styling, cutting, and coloring hair. Through her business savvy and dedication, she thrived in sales and salon management eventually running her own salon, Love is N the Hair in Katy Texas. Mia touched countless lives with her warmest smile, genuine listening ear, and uplifting spirit. She had a remarkable ability to make others feel seen, valued, and beautiful. Her numerous clients and community knew the depth of her impact and the joy she brought through her work.

Rooted in her Korean heritage, Mia expressed love most beautifully through food. She delighted in preparing and sharing traditional Korean dishes, turning meals into heartfelt celebrations. Gathering around the table with family and friends filled her with joy, as she poured care into ensuring everyone felt nourished and cherished.

Above all, Mia’s greatest love and purpose were her two daughters, Olivia, 21, and Penelope, 15. Having experienced only a brief time of nurturing in her own childhood, she devoted herself completely to being the loving, present mother she longed to be. She worked tirelessly to give her girls the security, affection, and guidance she wished she had received, filling their lives with unwavering support and love. The family would like to give a special thanks to the Pecan Grove ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and all of her amazing friends and her community who continue to take great care of her family.

Mia was preceded in death by her birth parents; father, Jaeho Kim, mother, Walsoon Gi; adoptive parents, father, Louis Wilder Stallings, mother, Roxie Rae Vickers.

Mia is survived by her daughters Olivia and Penelope Yorkey, former husband, Mark Yorkey; her younger brother Kim Sangjoon (wife Gilsoon and son Younggun); her older brother Doug Stallings (wife Emily and sons Evan, Connor, Garrett, Rowan); her younger sister Jill Hickman (husband Carl and children Scott, Caitlyn, Logan); younger sister Suzanne Jackson (husband Kerry); and younger brother Drew Stallings (wife Anna and daughters Emma, Isabelle).

A viewing / visitation will be held Wednesday July 1, 2026, 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM followed by a funeral service held from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM in the chapel of Forest Park Southwest Funeral Home, 9040 FM 359 Road, Richmond, TX 77406.
