

DRESCHER, Adam John, of Richmond, Va., died peacefully October 6, 2013, one month shy of his 97th birthday. He has been a Richmond resident since 1958, when the corporate office of Reynolds Metals relocated to Richmond. He was born November 14, 1916 in Louisville, Ky., an only child and preceded in death by his parents when a young boy. He attended Wittenburg University and worked for Reynolds Metals over 40 years as an extrusion engineer. He was a lifelong member of the Masonic Order, belonging to the Tuckahoe Lodge in Richmond and honored as the oldest lifetime living member of his former lodge in Kentucky. Raised in the Lutheran Church, and an active participant all of his life, he served in many capacities in his latter years at Epiphany Evangelical Lutheran Church in Richmond. He was actively involved in community service with the Tuckahoe Lions Club and Meals on Wheels for many years. A devoted and loving husband, dad and "PaPa," he is survived by his wife of 72 years, Cora C. Drescher; daughter, Sharon Bertelsen; son, Adam J. Drescher and his wife, Nancy of Baltimore, Md.; five grandchildren, Kevin Bertelsen and his wife, Jenny of Charlotte, N.C., David Bertelsen and his wife, Wendi of Richmond, Va., Denise Mays and her husband, Chris of Tipp City, Ohio, Adam Drescher of Baltimore, Md. and Nathan Drescher and his wife, Kristen of Forest Hill, Md.; and seven great-grandchildren, Jackson and Libby Bertelsen, Ashley Mays, Ariana, Maya and Tristan Drescher and Abbie Bertelsen. He will be forever missed by all of the above. The family will receive friends Wednesday, October 9, 2013 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Rd., Richmond, Va. Viewing also at 10 a.m. Thursday, October 10, prior to funeral service at 11 a.m. at Epiphany Evangelical Church, 1400 Horsepen Rd., Richmond, Va. Interment Greenwood Memorial Gardens following a light lunch in the Fellowship Hall.
