Al was born in Philadelphia, PA in 1923. He wholeheartedly served as a soldier for his country and his God. When not involved with church activities, he enjoyed working in his yard, fishing, and stamp collecting.
Al is survived by his devoted wife of 68 years, Anne Holt Soroka; two daughters, Karen Ivy (Steve) and Susan Engleman (Wray); four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and other family and friends who loved him.
Al's family extends heartfelt thanks to the ladies who provided care while we were able to keep him home with Anne.
A visitation will be held on Friday from 2pm to 4pm and from 6pm to 8pm at Woody Funeral Home, Parham Chapel, 1771 N. Parham Rd., Richmond, Va. 23229 where a funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Saturday at 12pm. Interment with honors to follow at Westhampton Memorial Park.
