Alvin Edward Balderson

Alvin Edward Balderson, 90 years young, passed away peacefully on February 15, 2020. He was born on October 7, 1929 in Richmond County, Virginia to Eddie and Leola Hynson Balderson. Alvin led a fruitful
and fulfilling life until his very last days.
In February 1951, Alvin joined the U.S. Army as a Corporal in the Chemical Corps during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged in February 1953. After his loyal service to his country concluded, Alvin began working professionally for the Coca-Cola company in Montross, VA, and eventually moved on to work for the Merita Bread Company as a delivery driver. He delivered goods for Merita throughout Southeast Virginia and Northeastern North Carolina for many years, and eventually moved to Sunrise, Florida for several years. In 1987, Alvin retired from American Bakeries Company.
Alvin is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dorothy Brickhouse Balderson; his son, Alvin Wayne Balderson; his daughter, Kathey Lynn Balderson; and his sisters, Alice Smith and Louise Landman. He is
survived by his daughter, Gayle Leonard (Kevin); granddaughter, Billie Leonard Clark (Stewart); grandsons, Taylor Balderson and Matt Kowalyk (Leslie); great- grandson, Atticus Roy Kowalyk; sister, Viola Connelly; and brother, Irving Balderson. He is also survived by his dog and best friend, Fred.
