Ann Beattie Henshaw

Ann Walker Beattie Henshaw, 88, of Mechanicsville, Va., passed away peacefully on December 24, 2013. She was born in Hanover County on June 7, 1925 and was the only child of the late John Nance Beattie and "Johnnie" Glassell Beattie of Old Church, Va. Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Tod Scott Henshaw Jr. She is survived by her two daughters, Susan Henshaw Peacock and Courtney Scott Holmes; a great-aunt, Jean Beattie Kivlighan; two grandchildren, Eric Tod Holmes and Cara Leigh Holmes; and a favorite cat, Missie. She attended St. Margaret's School in Tappahannock, Va. and Mary Baldwin College in Staunton, Va. and was a long-time member of Immanuel Episcopal Church. She had a love for her home, gardening, nature and animals and especially working in her yard. The family will receive friends on Friday, January 3, 2014, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Rd. A graveside service will be held Saturday, January 4, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at Immanuel Episcopal Church Cemetery, 3263 Old Church Rd., Mechanicsville, Va., followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. in the church.
