SMELLEY, Barbara Gaines, 79, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, June 24, 2011. She is survived by her beloved husband, Carl Willis Smelley; her daughter, Deborah Wickham; son, Craig Smelley and his wife Terry; and many relatives and friends. She was a graduate of John Marshall high school and Smithdeal Massey Business College. Barbara loved the Lord and taught Sunday school for many years at Skipwith Baptist Church. She also volunteered with the Good News Jail and Prison Ministry for 30 years. She will be remembered for her sense of humor, love of life, faithfulness, and devotion to her family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Sunday, June 26, 2011, at Woody’s Funeral Home, 1771 North Parham Road. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 27, 2011, at 11:00 am at Skipwith Baptist Church. Graveside service will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Skipwith Baptist Church, 1900 Skipwith Road, Richmond, VA 23229.
