Barbara Lee Norris Sutherland

SUTHERLAND, Barbara Lee Norris, 78, of Richmond, passed away, November 5, 2014. She was born to the late Robert and Dorothea Norris on April 26, 1936. She graduated from The Collegiate School for Girls, she attended Endicott Junior College near Boston, MA. She was a former Tobacco Festival Hostess Princess, a member and past President of the James River Junior Women’s Club, and past President of the Auxiliary Board of Retreat Hospital. She served on the board of the Chesterfield County Red Cross and the Virginia Museum Council. She is a member of the Jamestown/Yorktown Foundation, the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, the Tuckahoe Women’s Club, and serves on the Collegiate Alumni Board.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 57 years, Page Hamilton Sutherland. She is survived by her children, Barbara Page Sutherland Gaylor and husband Steven Allen, Elizabeth Norris Sutherland Kennon and husband Richard Randolph Kennon, Jr.; grandchildren, Richard Randolph Kennon, III (Ranny), Lee Hamilton Kennon, Sarah Page Kennon; brother, Robert William Norris, Jr., and wife Faith; numerous cousins; and her adoring Rescue beagle, Maggie.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 9, 2014, from 2 to 4pm, at the Parham Chapel of Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N Parham Rd, Richmond. Funeral services will be held at River Road Presbyterian Church at 11am, on Monday, November 10, 2014, with interment following at Westhampton Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your favorite Animal Rescue organization.
