Bettie was preceded in death by her husband, Ted B. Jacobsen and three siblings, Charles A. Thomas, John A. Thomas, and Jeanne T. Lucas. She is survived by her son, Eric A. Jacobsen of Louisa, Va.; daughter-in-law, Debra S. Jacobsen of Manakin Sabot,Va.; granddaughters, Blair Bell (Jonathan), Melissa Markey (Blake), and Lauren McGowan (Austin); her great-grandchildren that she adored, Jackson and Lila Bell, Kaylee and Pierce Markey, and Myles McGowan; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bettie was a graduate of Mary Baldwin College and a member of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church. She was a member of the Tuckahoe Women’s Club and formerly a member of the Children’s Theater of Richmond and the council of the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. She was associated with the General Assembly of Virginia for a number of years.
A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at Westminster Canterbury in the Sanctuary on Thursday, January 25, 2024 at 1 p.m. Please arrive 30 minutes early to allow for parking. Interment will be private at a later date in Lawrenceville, Va.
