Beverly Ann Lockwood, a resident of Richmond, VA, born on March 1, 1944, died on January 23, 2026. Married 61 years of her 81 years to Richard C. Lockwood, Beverly was Mom to daughters Resha Lockwood and Laura Lockwood. She was the second of five Spence sisters, and most proud of being the grandmother known as “Bev” to Taylor, Cameron and Bennett. If asked, she might describe herself as a feminist, a gardener (she was a master gardener), a student of philosophy, an artist, a wine enthusiast, and a scientist. To those who knew Bev she was a force of nature and a walking opinion not waiting to be shared. Bev was fire and righteous passion and all things divine feminine. She was intellectually brilliant, deeply feeling and radically practical. Bev knew nothing was black or white. Art is sacred. Love is everything. Playing in the creek and moving rocks is the best therapy unless you are on the beach with your toes in the sand. We imagine her sitting with Saint Peter and her list of questions that she has been waiting her whole life to get the answers to. He will not get up from his seat until she is satisfied with his explanations. Her passing is a loss to all who had the privilege to know her and her family is heartbroken.
