

ANSELL, Dr. Burness F. Jr., passed away surrounded by family, love and faith, on January 27, 2017. He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Nancy C. Ansell; parents, Burness F. and Jeannette F. Ansell; and brother, William F. Ansell. He is survived by his children, Burness F. Ansell III (Dee), Kathy A. Lowe (Lee), David C. Ansell (Bobbie), Becky A. Rose (Robert) and Richard F. Ansell (Elizabeth); nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; brother, W. Leigh Ansell (Jean); cousin, Bonney Sullivan; and many nieces and nephews.
Dr. Ansell began his medical career in Richmond at The McGuire Clinic in 1967. He practiced Hematology/Oncology for over 40 years before retiring. He was a longtime, dedicated Scouter, obtaining his God and Service and Silver Beaver Awards. He obtained the rank of Captain in the U. S. Naval Reserve. He will be remembered for his devotion to his family, medicine, Scouting and his country.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, January 31, 2017, at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Rd., Richmond, Va. 23229. His funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, February 1, 2017, at Second Baptist Church, 9614 River Road. Burial will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, February 2, 2017, at the Virginia Veterans Cemetery, 10300 Pridesville Road, Amelia, Va.
