He is survived by his devoted wife, Janet S. Gray; two sons, Daniel Cameron Gray and Alfred Scott Gray; a brother, Robert S. Armstrong, Jr. (Jo Ellyn); two nieces, Angela A. Orlando and Teri Jo A. Bruce; sister-in-law Corinne Gray; and his many friends.
He was a graduate of Douglas Freeman High School and was later inducted into the Douglas Freeman athletic Hall of Fame for football and wrestling. He attended Randolph-Macon College and VCU. He served his country as a member of the United States Marine Reserves. He and his family lived for many years in Nottoway County, VA where he retired as a Sargeant with the Virginia Dept. of Wildlife Resources. He loved the outdoors and especially fishing on the Outer Banks with his brother and friends. After returning to Richmond later in life, he enjoyed getting together often for breakfast with a group of his high school friends. The family would like to thank the staff at Discovery Village in the West End for their wonderful care and love.
A celebration of his life will be held at Woody Funeral Home, Parham Chapel, at 11:00 a.m. Thursday April 11th. Interment will be private.
