Carolyn Surette Moeller

MOELLER, Carolyn Surette, 47, of Henrico, went to be with the Lord, Sunday, August 14, 2011. Carolyn was born March 18, 1964 in Winchester, Mass. She is survived by her husband, Mark W. Moeller; sons, Ryan J., Corey R. and Sean M. Moeller; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald J. Surette (Mary Degnan Surette) all of Richmond; brothers, Stephen Surette and wife, Laura, of Martinsville, N.J., Brian Surette and his wife, Melissa, of Falls Church, Va. and John Surette and his wife, Jacqueline, of Mendham, N.J.; mother-in-law, Esther Moeller of Lynchburg, Va.; brothers-in-law, Scott and wife, Dianne, Kevin and wife, Glenna, and Matthew Moeller of Va.; sister-in-law, Carrie Moeller of Va.; brother-in-law, Val Moeller of Texas; as well as nephews, a niece, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Carolyn was formerly of Massachusetts, Ohio, Illinois and New Jersey before moving to Richmond. She was a 1982 graduate of Mendham (N.J.) High School, where she excelled as a track and cross country athlete. She was a New Jersey group champion in the high jump for two years, as well as a top cross country runner in state competition. In her junior year, she was awarded the D'Agostino Award as the outstanding junior girl student athlete. Carolyn graduated from the University of Richmond in 1986, where she continued as a runner on the cross country team. In recent years, Carolyn was a substitute teacher in the Henrico Elementary Schools, and an instructor at the Tuckahoe YMCA. She was a member of the Tuckahoe Village West Swim Club.

Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Rd. A service celebrating her life will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, August 18, at Christ Church Episcopal Church, 5000 Pouncey Tract Rd., Glen Allen, Va. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
