Charles “Chase” Cabell Staples, 92, of Henrico, VA, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Saturday, September 26, 2020. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Elaine Presgrave Staples; daughter Sandra S. Jacobson (Rick), grandchildren Jordan, Tanner and Cutter, and great granddaughter, May; son, Bruce L. Staples (Nancy), grandchildren Maggie, Kelly and Charlie; daughter Christy S. Holton (Tom), grandchildren, Murphy, Harlie and Cooper; son, Charles Cabell Staples, Jr. (Nicky), and grandson Chase.
Chase served in the US Navy from 1946 to 1948. Those years meant a lot to him. You could always find him wearing his hat honoring the USS Orleck, the destroyer on which he served. Later in his life he became instrumental in finding many shipmates and bringing them together at several reunions throughout the years.
Chase lived a good, long life and leaves a legacy in his many family members who loved him.
A funeral service will be held at 4pm on Wednesday, September 30, at Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Road, Richmond, VA with a visitation one hour prior.
