Christine Vassar Crute

Christine Vassar Crute, 90, of Henrico, Va., died peacefully on July 21, 2013. She was preceded in death by her parents, Isaac and Flora Vassar; her three brothers, Ed, Stan and Raymond Vassar. She is survived by her husband of 29 years, Horatio E. Crute; her two stepdaughters and their spouses, Jackie Kelley and husband, Jeff, Cathy Long and husband, Chuck; five grandchildren, Jeff Kelley Jr., Derek Long, Darci Poole, Cooper Long and Gabe Kelley; as well as numerous devoted nieces and nephews. Mrs. Crute was a graduate of Randolph-Henry High School in Charlotte Court House, Va., and Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg, Va. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Richmond. The family wishes to thank the Helping Angels at Dogwood Terrace for all their caring support over the last few months. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 23, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Rd., and where a funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, July 24, at 1 p.m. Interment will follow at Westhampton Memorial Park at Patterson Avenue and Gaskins Rd.
