He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Helen (Williams) Gardner of Windsor, VA and his sister, NeII G. Miller of Henrico, VA. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Karyn Hale Gardner from Owensboro, KY, three stepchildren, Jennifer Riddick (John), Benjamin Young (Kristen) and Adam Young (Jacquelyn), nine step grandchildren, three of whom reside nearby in Mechanicsville, VA ( Varence, Valerie and Lexie Young). Also surviving David are two sisters, Betty G. Duck (Lloyd) of Mount Pleasant, SC, and Mary E. Hawkins (Joel) of Richmond, VA, brother-in-law Marc Miller of Henrico, VA, as well as six nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on October 7, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Road. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to West End Baptist Church, P.O. Box 28101, Henrico, VA, 23228.
