

Debra Karen Pociluyko (Debbie), 70, of Richmond Va., passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Monday, January 13, 2025, after a brief illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Mildred Whitfield and her sister Cathy Holland. She is survived by her husband, James Michael Pociluyko (Jim), son, James Russell Pociluyko, daughter, Sheri Nicole Pociluyko; grandchildren, Autumn Skye Pociluyko, Zechariah David Pociluyko; brother, Joseph Dillard Whitfield, Jr. (Janet), sisters, Linda Whitfield Duke, and Milly Whitfield Adair; and many loved cousins, nieces and nephews. Debbie was born in Fairbanks, Alaska on December 15, 1954, and was married in Hampton, Va. September 8, 1979, to Architect Jim Pociluyko, AIA. They met through mutual friends while Debbie was attending Radford University and Jim was attending Virginia Tech and were happily married for 45 years. Debbie was a varsity Cheer Leader at Forest Glen High School in Suffolk, Va., Treasurer of the Knoxville, Tn. Chapter of the Women’s Aglow, PTA Chairman at Hilton Elementary School, N.N., Va., and actively participated in several International Christian Mission trips to Europe and Israel through her church affiliation’s (New Covenant Church, Hampton Va., Mechanicsville Christian Center, and Harvest Renewal Church in Richmond, Va.) Although Debbie had her Bachelor of Science degree in Social Work, she devoted her life to her family and loved investing much of her time encouraging young people she met through her affiliations in various Christian Ministries. Debbie loved and supported the Arts, had a great sense of humor and was always hospitable and friendly. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
A Celebration of Life service will be held 1:00 p.m. February 22, 2025, at Woody Funeral Home 1771 N. Parham Road Richmond, Va. with a reception to follow.
