

Curry, Donald Eugene, Sr., age 87, of Richmond, Virginia, peacefully passed away on Sunday, August 29, 2021 on his 87th birthday. He was surrounded by his family in his home. Don was the beloved husband of 66 years to Marcella Curry who were parishioners of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Richmond. Don is survived by his daughter, Denise Alderman and her husband, Gerry; son, Don and his wife Cherie; his son, Brian and his wife Rebecca. He was predeceased by his son Major Timothy Curry (wife Karen). Don was blessed with eight grandchildren who adored him, Erik, Justin, Alexandra, Michael, Greg, Madeline, Timothy, Carsyn, and two great granddaughters Olivia and Gentry.
He was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and with his wife moved to Pine Hill, New Jersey where they lived for 28 years. Don was a production manager at Keebler Cookie Bakery where he worked for 33 years. Later, he relocated to Richmond, Virginia as production manager at Famous Foods of Virginia (FFV)
As an avid baseball fan, Don loved the Washington Nationals. He was proud to coach all three of his sons in their little league careers. His other passions were getting mail and tending to his lawn as he was proud to have the greenest grass in town. Don’s favorite pastime was playing games with his family and his preferred game of choice was Pinochle. He often said he’d rather lose at Pinochle than win at any other game. Family and friends will be received at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 9505 Gayton Road, Henrico, VA on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at 10:00 am. A funeral Mass will follow in the church at 11:00 am.
