

Ikenberry, Donald S. 82, died peacefully on September 23, 2014 at home surrounded by family. Born in Daleville, Virginia. Donald Ikenberry relocated to Richmond in 1954, after serving his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. In Richmond, Mr. Ikenberry began his career at Dupont while obtaining a photography degree at RPI (now VCU). Having learned his entrepreneur skills from his father, Donald opened and operated a well known photography business in Carytown. Associated Photographers was his dream career where he photographed 1000’s of weddings and special events for 60 years. Donald was a member of Post 361 for 25 years and also dedicated most of his time supporting American Legion Post 361 Baseball. He also served as District Commander for several years and was an active member of 40/8, a group of honorably discharged United States Veterans. Donald was deceased by his parents, Karl Ferris and Gladys Stevens Ikenberry and his brother Bruce Ikenberry. Donald is survived by his loving wife Nancy of 45 years, his children, Steve and Mary Claire Ikenberry, Lee and Denise Jewell, Deidre and Domingo Balbuena, Merlin and Tracey Ikenberry, Marlin and Shannon Ikenberry(AKA Cocky, Toes, Sharp, Seuss, and Keebler) Grandchildren included; Adam, Chris, Ashley, Hannah, Jack, Annabel, Kyla, Levi, Owen.Great Grandchildren; Brayden, Kherington, and Emmett. Donald’s comical spirit and witty interpretations brought joy and laughter to those who surrounded him. He truly loved people, was an outstanding artist, loved jazz music, and above all treasured thecloseness of his family and listening to their stories of life experiences. The Family is eternally grateful for the compassionate care from St Mary’s Hospital ICU and Hospice of VA care nurses, of Richmond Virginia 23226.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm Friday, September 26, 2014 at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Rd. where his funeral service will be held 11am Saturday, September 27, 2014. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
