Mrs. Dorothy Ann Arnold

Dorothy Ann (McDade) Arnold passed away peacefully at home on March 3, 2025, she was 93. Ann was born in North Carolina, eventually moved to Richmond, VA and in 1953 met the love of her life, then Lt. Arthur R. Arnold (US Army). They married in 1954 and together managed to raise four sons Neil(b.1958), Dean(b.1959),Todd(b.1960) and Brian(b.1964) while moving from duty station to duty station. They were posted to Germany (twice),Maryland (twice), Colorado and Fort Knox (4 times!). As the proud wife of an Army officer frequently away for long periods, she cultivated many talents necessary to fill the hours. Among them were needlepoint, reading, cooking, housekeeping, keeping up with her soaps and teaching her sons the importance of well dusted baseboards...she could cook dinner, read a book and watch TV all at the same time!

In 1971, LTC Arnold, Ann and the boys relocated to Richmond, VA. and spent many happy civilian years together. She later entered her grandmother phase and to Elizabeth (b.1989), Colin (b.1998) and Lindsey (b.2002) she was known as "Grandma" and "Annie". Walks with Corgis, trips to the library, proper teas with sugar cubes, endless stories, birdwatching and COCA-COLA on the patio provided special moments all were fortunate to share. Her love and devotion to family and their well-being will be forever missed.

A graveside service will take place on Thursday March 13, 2025 at 11:00 a.m., at Washington Memorial Park, 6217 Memorial Dr, Sandston, VA 23150.
