Dottie grew up in Ardmore, PA and graduated from the Academy of Notre Dame de Namur in 1951. She went on to pursue a career devoted to caring for others, graduating from Bryn Mawr Nursing School in 1954.
Following nursing school, Dottie began her career working in Labor and Delivery. It was at the hospital that she met her future husband, a physician, Peter Glowacki, and they married in 1956. Dottie then devoted many years to raising their five children.
After her children were older, Dottie returned to the profession she loved. She worked for 18 years as a registered nurse with the Main Line Women’s OB/GYN Group, where she served as head nurse of the large practice. Nursing suited Dottie perfectly. Caring for others was more than her profession, it was simply part of who she was.
Dottie will be remembered most for her kind and giving heart. She was always willing to help someone in need, offering her time, support, and a warm smile. Her kindness came naturally, and she had a special way of making people feel cared for and welcome.
Above all, Dottie loved her family. She was the devoted mother of Michael, David, Lee Anne, Keith and Shelley, and proud grandmother of Chelsea, Connor, Lexi and Katie. Her family brought great joy to her life and the love and care she gave them will remain an enduring part of her legacy.
Dottie also believed in staying active and embraced life with energy and enthusiasm. She especially loved walking at Valley Forge Park, running, taking exercise classes and playing tennis, which she continued to enjoy well into her late 70’s.
Her faith and her community were also an important part of her life. When she lived in PA she was actively involved at St Ann’s Church where she served as a greeter - a role especially fitting for someone whose warm smile and welcoming nature came so easily.
Throughout her 92 years, Dottie touched many lives, as a mother, grandmother, nurse, friend, and neighbor. She will be remembered for her generosity, her caring nature, her energy, and her smile which she readily shared with others. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who were fortunate to know her.
