Dorothy Evelyn Reed Richerson

Dorothy Evelyn Reed Richerson, born in Cleveland County, Arkansas, on February 12, 1921, passed on from this earth on December 25, 2015. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years, Francis Buckner Richerson; her parents, Joseph Oliver Reed and Opel Allred Reed; and her sister, Frances Harden. She leaves behind her children, Carolie Kay (Bob), Gail Yancey (Larry) and Buckner Richerson (Phyllis); her grandchildren, Stephanie Williams (Steve), Christopher Kay (Kimberly), Andrew Yancey, Caroline Yancey, Reed Richerson, Emma Richerson and Tess Richerson; and her great-grandchildren, Allison Williams, Camden Kay, and Ellie Grace Kay. Throughout her life, Mrs Richerson adored her family and enjoyed homemaking. She was active in church service and leadership, volunteered in the community and politics, and enjoyed living in several states and overseas. She was an exceptional cook. Her family thanks her for her example and legacy of strength, kindness, and service. She will truly be missed by all who knew her. A graveside burial service will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, January 3, 2016, at Salem Baptist Church, 24032 Sparta Rd., Milford, Virginia 22514. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, January 4, 2016, at Lakewood Manor Retirement Community, 1900 Lauderdale Drive, in the Simms Center.
