Earl Chappell Staton

Earl C. Staton of Henrico, VA passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on Friday, February 28, 2014. He was born on November 21, 1932 in Charlottesville, VA, the son of the late Edward C. Staton, Sr. and Fannie B. Staton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Edward C. Staton, Jr.

Earl is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Frances W. Staton, son Jeffrey D. Staton (Susan), and daughter L. Kim Staton (Sandy Meagher). He leaves behind four grandchildren that he loved very much; Erin, Sean, Lauren, and Logan. Also surviving are sisters Edith Gentry and Joyce Perry; brothers Chuck Staton (Wanda) and Bobby Staton; sister-in-law Glenna Shifflett (Frank) and a number of nieces and nephews.

Earl served his country as a member of the U.S. Air Force. He retired from the Department of Interior’s Environmental Protection Agency. After retirement he worked at Belmont Golf Course where he was an avid golfer and constant presence in the pro shop. He was also a lifetime member of the Elks Lodge.

Friends and Family may visit on March 7, 2014 from 6 - 7:30 pm with memorial Services at 7:30 pm at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Road Henrico, VA 23229. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association or Bon Secours, St. Mary’s Hospital, 5801 Bremo Rd, Richmond, VA 23226.
