
Edith Beatley Metzler was born in Northumberland County, VA. Edith was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence Aubrey Beatley and Sarah Spence Beatley, and her brothers, William Howard Beatley and C. Aubrey Beatley, Jr.
Left to cherish her memory and legacy are her husband of 30 years, William (Bill) Metzler, her son, Donald G. Agee, Jr., her daughter-in-law, Dawn Agee, and her grandson, Kyle Taylor Agee.
Edith graduated from Northumberland High School in 1954. She Started her lifelong career working in insurance in 1961 working for the Robins Insurance Agency. In 1962, she moved on to Virginia Mutual Insurance Company where she was a Property/Casualty underwriter for 5 states. In 1974 with her experience as an underwriter,she was hired by Hilb, Rogal & Hamilton where she was a Commercial Accounts Manager and producer. In 1990, she went to the Manry Rawls Corporation as an Office Manager, Commercial Marketing Manager, and Producer.
Edith had many accomplishments in the insurance industry. She was President of the Independent Insurance Agents of Virginia, President of the Insurance Women of Richmond, Convention Chairman of the Independent Insurance Agents of Virginia, and the first recipient of the Continental Insurance Company Agency Employee of the Month.
Edith was a kind, compassionate, and strong woman who loved her friends and family. She loved to travel, being with her family, and shopping for clothes. She and Bill lived in many places on the east coast before settling back in Richmond. She also loved seeing her favorite dog, Thatcher.
The family will hold a celebration of life at a later date
