Mrs. Meadows changed my life while I was a student at DSF in 1957/58. I did not know she had passed away recently. I wish I had known. In May 2013, I took Mrs. Meadows, as my guest, to the DSF Athletic Hall of Fame induction of two of my lifetime friends (and her students) at the Hilton on Broad Street. It was my time with her to thank her and let her know how much she meant to me. Both of us enjoyed the three hours we spent together. She will always be remembered by me as person who cared. I have told my story about me and Mrs. Meadows to my kids and grandkids. She was the best teacher I ever had and it had nothing to do with the subject she taught.

You were the best.  You inspired me and brought out the best in everyone.  Thank you!

I'm sorry for your loss.  Mrs. Meadows and I started the new DSF the same year in 1954.  I was in the eighth grade and in her home room for two years.  By the second year she had a pretty good idea what I was all about.  She pulled me aside and gave me the best advice I could have received.  It served me well in high school and for the rest of my life.  Mrs. Meadows attended our 50th class reunion in 2009 and when she asked me if I remembered what she said to me, I repeated it back to her almost word for word.  I never had her for a teacher, but she taught me the most valuable life lesson I received in high school.  Mrs. Meadows was a remarkable woman and teacher who will never be forgotten.

You were the most influencial teacher I ever had.  I owed you a lot.

We are so sorry for your loss.  As her neighbors we enjoyed catching up with her when she was out on her walks.  The kids were always excited to talk with their friend "Miss Edna."  We will miss her and we will keep your family in our thoughts and prayers.

I am so sorry for your loss. I graduated from Douglas Freeman in 1972 and fondly remember her as a wonderful teacher.

I remember Mrs. Meadows fondly.  I was in the DSF Class of 1968 and she taught me Government.  Looking at the photos made me smile, she had a sense of humor and enjoyed life up to the end.  There are many students that appreciate her dedication to education.

Mrs. Meadows was a teacher of mine at DSF thirty plus years ago. The DSF Class of 84 was a rather "spirited" group, but Mrs. Meadows somehow just rolled with it. You could always tell by her eyes that she was laughing inside, even while she kept her poker face on when someone was in trouble. What a great lady - my sincere condolences to the family. Mrs. Meadows was a great and memorable teacher.  I was lucky enough to have her as neighbor as well when we bought our house. I enjoyed many conversations and visits with her.

My daughter Corinne and I enjoyed spending time with Amie, Shirley and Elizabeth. I'll always remember what a great time we had together on a trip to Britain. Despite her age then, she kept up with us in every way. She was sharp, funny, and told a lot of stories. She never passed a baby or dog without speaking and had a kind word for everyone. Our loving thoughts go out to Shirley, Elizabeth, David, and their family.

Mrs. Meadows was a teacher of mine at DSF over 50 years ago and I fondly remember her as an one of my very favorite.  She was the BEST !  Thoughts and prayers to those she has left behind.

I was a neighbor of Edna, we had many conversations when she was on her walks with her dog. She would always come up to our backyard gate to pet and say hi to our dogs. She was inspiring to me at her age because she enjoyed life so much. I will very much miss seeing her and talking with her. Such a sweet soul.  I am so sorry for your loss.

I often spoke to Ms. Meadows while she was out walking her cute little dog in our neighborhood.  She was always kind and one of the things I admired about her was her spunk - she was intent on getting out and enjoying the day.  She always had kind words and we spoke often.  If there is anything the Graham Meadows community can do, please call on us.  She will be missed.

Amie was a great kind hearted and loving woman she would do anything she can for anybody and not ask for anything in return. She loved with all her heart and we all loved her and she will be missed by many. Myself, Katherine and James and our kids miss and love her very much!
