Born to the late Betty and John Dillard, Sr., in November of 1954, in Richmond Va., Eddie was the middle son of his loving family. He was an avid musician who was active in the local jam-band community. In addition to his love of music, he was known to enjoy the adventures of the outdoors, where fishing was a favorite pastime. Eddie was a loving, compassionate, thoughtful, and generous person who made the lives of all who knew him better through his presence. Known as the “fun uncle,” he was always excited to spend time with his family and friends and often had a beloved Golden Retriever by his side. Eddie graduated from Douglas Freeman High School in 1974.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his niece, Lindsay Ellis; and his many beloved dog children who were his companions throughout his life.
Left to cherish Eddie’s memory is his two brothers, John “Nick” Dillard, Jr., (Janis), and Steve Dillard (Kathy); his two sisters, Jean Ellis (Carl), and Susan Dillard; his three nieces, Emily (Mark) Deans, Danielle Jennings, and Katie Jennings; two nephews, Jason Dillard, and Billy (Morgan) Ellis; his great nieces and nephews, Hannah Ellis, Joshua Ellis, Johnathan Ellis, Ryland Julian, Kinsley Deans, and Paisley Deans; many cousins; and more friends than one could count.
A celebration of life will be announced by the family at a later date.
In honor of Eddie, the family suggests spending time outside near the water, picking up the guitar, or donating to the charity of your choosing in Eddie’s memory.
