Eleanor Custalow Cannada

Eleanor Custalow Cannada, 91, of Chesterfield, VA., cherished wife, mother, and sister went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 3, 2023. Eleanor was born on December 25, 1931 to the late Chief Webster Daniel "Little Eagle" Custalow and Mary Lee "White Feather" Custalow.

Eleanor was a member of First Baptist Church for 20 years. She taught a children's Sunday School class and helped with the cub scouts and GA's (girls in action) programs. Later she attended Grove Avenue Baptist Church where she taught a children's Sunday School class and also served as a receptionist. She belonged to the Christian Women's Club and Community Bible Study.

In Eleanor’s early years she was a secretary /receptionist to Mr. Robins at A.H. Robins Pharmaceutical Co. For 38 years she owned and operated their family business with her husband.

She was predeceased by her son, Douglas "Soaring Eagle" Cannada; Two sisters, Shirley "Little Dove" McGowan and Delores "Little White Dove" Salmons; Three brothers Dr. Linwood "Little Bear" Custalow, Carl "Lone Eagle" Custalow and Ryland "Little Beaver" Custalow.

Her most gratifying achievement above all else was her role as a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She is survived by her husband, Alton L. Cannada of 66 years; Her two children whom she loved dearly, Kathryn "Morningdove" Cannada and David Louis Cannada (Cathy); her daughter-in-law, Nicholle B. Cannada; Our mother was blessed with nine grandchildren, Brandon, Daniel, Nathaniel, Amanda, Andrew, Courtney, Stephanie, Mary and Susan; She also leaves behind three precious great-grandchildren; two sisters, Edith "White Feather" Kuhns and Debra "White Dove" Graciano; one brother Leon "Two Feathers" Custalow; along with extended family and friends.

Eleanor’s life will be an everlasting testament to her unwavering faith in God. A Celebration of Life will take place at Richmond’s First Baptist Church 2709 Monument Ave Richmond, Va. On Wednesday, July 12, 2023 at 12 p.m. Interment will follow in Westhampton Memorial Park.
