Elizabeth Temple Downs

Elizabeth Temple Downs entered her heavenly home on Saturday, November 9th, 2024. Betty or “B” as her 4 grandchildren often would call her, was born on June 22nd, 1935 in Lynchburg Virginia, to Ben and Esther Temple.

Her brother George Temple is still with us and resides in Virginia Beach, Va.

Betty attended St. Annes boarding school, Collegiate school and Longwood University. She was part of the DAR for 25 years, volunteered with the garden club of Virginia and attended Grace Baptist church.

She married her high school sweetheart, the late George Warthen Downs, and had four children. Betty was a beautiful person inside and out. One of her many endearing qualities was her ability to make you feel comfortable in her presence. She was genuinely interested in others and a loyal and loving friend.

Betty is survived by her 4 children and their spouses: George Warthen Downs JR(Marcelle) Elizabeth Temple Downs, Maryanne Liscio (John) Peggy Nadder(Mike)

And her 4 grand-children: Henry Warthen Liscio(Rowan), John Andrew Liscio, Michael Nadder and Peyton Nadder.

Our family would like to thank Spring Arbor of Salisbury for their care these last two years and also “Admired & Retired” owners Mark and Catherine Girsham for their love and care in moms final days at their home.

A small private family celebration of Bettys’ life will take place in the Spring.
