Eric Maughan Duncan passed on August 26, 2026, at the age of 71. Born on September 24, 1954, in Illinois, Eric lived in Richmond, Virginia for 38 years.Eric is predeceased by his parents Homer and Wynette "Penny" Duncan. Eric lived a life of quiet devotion, selfless service and profound love.
Left to cherish his memory are his eternal sweetheart of almost 50 years, Vickey Bailey Duncan, they built a life rooted in faith and devotion raising an amazing family that was the center of his world. His children, Amanda "Matt" Lauritzen, Adam "Leslie" Duncan, Katie "Curtis" Stowers, Kyle "Kristen" Duncan, Curtis "Mallory" Duncan, Spencer "Krista" Duncan, Bradley "Taylor" Duncan, Erica "Ian" Hunt, Jacob "Jessica" Duncan. As well as 37 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren with 2 on the way. Eric is also survived by his brother, Jeff Duncan as well as his sister Jennifer Duncan.
Nothing was more important to Eric than his family and his membership and service in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He was a dedicated servant for 34 years in the Washington, DC and Richmond, VA Temples. Eric loved being a grandpa more than almost anything and was always seen holding a grandchild in his arms at family gatherings. Above all else his faith held the promise of eternal reunions.
A viewing will be held Monday August 31st, 2026 at Woody Funeral Home 1771 N Parham Rd. in Richmond from 4 PM to 6 PM. A funeral service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints 10913 Staples Mill Rd, Glen Allen, VA 23060 at 12 PM. Interment will follow at Westhampton Memorial Park.
