Ethel Augusta Liening Zellmer

Zellmer, Ethel Augusta Liening, 82, resident of the Imperial Plaza Retirement Community in Richmond, VA, joined her heavenly family on January 1, 2012. Born in Chicago, IL, she lived in Maywood and Elmhurst, IL, Milwaukee, WI, San Francisco, CA, Ramsey, NJ, Austin, TX, and Richmond, Va. She graduated from Lutheran Hospital School for Nurses, Moline, IL, and received her degree in Sociology from Luther College, Decorah, IA. The field of nursing was her passion.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Odiene (Dean); three children, Steven and wife Beth, Glenwood, NJ, Cynthia Reagan and husband Tony, Chesterfield, VA, and Gretchen Sargent and husband Kenneth, Derry, NH; five grandchildren, Michelle Zellmer, Anthony and Amy Reagan, and Taylor and Hannah Sargent; two step grandchildren, Kenneth Sargent III and wife Susan, Sacramental, CA and Kirsten Sargent Doherty and husband Brendan, Davis, CA; two sisters, Elaine Hanson, Scottsdale, AZ, and Ruth Tyrrell, Aiken. SC. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Rebecca.

Funeral services will be held at Epiphany Lutheran Church, 1400 Horsepen Road, Richmond, VA 23226 at 10:30 AM on Thursday, January 5, 2012. Visitation will be from 7 PM until 9 PM in the Chapel at Epiphany Lutheran Church on Wednesday evening, January 4 and Thursday prior to the funeral service. Interment will be in Quantico National Cemetery, Triangle, VA on a later date.
