

MCCOY, Eva Mae Gantt, beloved wife of George W. McCoy Jr., of Richmond, VA, went to be with her Lord in the early hours of December 21st at the age of 83. She was born on March 21, 1932, to Robert and Selma Gantt of Asheville, North Carolina. She graduated as a registered nurse from Memorial Mission Hospital in 1953 before marrying George in 1954. After the birth of their daughter Martha McCoy and son George W. McCoy III, they moved to Richmond where two more daughters, Mary (Lyons) and Elisabeth (Priest), were born. She is survived by her husband and four children, eleven grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren (and another on the way), and by her brother, Robert Gantt, of Asheville. She is also survived by countless extended family members, neighbors, and friends who remember her for her kind, outgoing, and caring nature, her love for animals, and for the wonderful stories she told. She was a woman of great faith who loved her Lord Jesus and gave her life in service to Him and others. A visitation for family and friends will be held today, Dec. 22nd, at The Parham Chapel-Woody Funeral Home 804-288-3013. 1771 N. Parham Rd. (at Three Chopt and Parham Rd.) from 3-6 pm. A simple graveside service will be held in Asheville, NC at Riverside Cemetery 83 Birch Street, December 23rd at 2:30pm.
