Evan Newton LaClair

Evan LaClair, loving son, brother and grandson passed away suddenly Friday, July 30, 2021 at the age of 32. Evan was born August 6, 1988 in Richmond, Virginia. He is survived by his parents, Rick and Leigh LaClair; his sister, Anne LaClair; grandmother, Marilyn Newton; aunt, Michelle Sisler (Mark); uncles, Larry LaClair (Marian), Gary LaClair (Tammy), Robert B. Newton Jr.; and cousins, Danielle, Schuyler and Mason. Evan was preceded in death by his grandfather, Robert B. Newton; and his cousins, Chad and Laurel. Evan graduated from Goochland High School in 2006 and attended the University of South Carolina. He had a passion for the written word. He was a prolific reader and writer and enjoyed performing his original poetry at open mic nights. Evan was a keen observer of people and always seemed to know just what to say. He was an all around athlete and enjoyed teaching youth swim lessons and playing pick up soccer at every opportunity. He loved taking long walks with his family dogs. He was most recently living and working in the northern Virginia area. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends that loved him. A private family service is planned.
