

Evelyn M. Tarr of Henrico, Virginia, 92 years young, left this worldly life Tuesday, October 1, 2024, after a brief illness. She was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Albert and Adeline Worner (Stolte).
Affectionately known as Evy, she was predeceased by her best friend and husband of 55 years, Edward L. (Ted) Tarr, Jr. and sisters Helen A. Clarke and Shirley M. Sidoff. She is survived by her son Bruce E. Tarr (Eileen), daughter Cynthia L Tarr, grandson Alexander E. Tarr, and brother Karl A. Worner, along with several cousins, nephews, nieces, and their extended families.
Evy and Ted met while he attended the Great Lakes Naval Training Center on Lake Michigan. They married, and Evy stayed with his parents in Bon Air after Ted was deployed the following week for 7 months on a destroyer during the Korean War. For many decades, she was a loving mother and homemaker who enjoyed playing tennis, swimming, fishing, watching UVA sports, shopping, and especially bowling. Evy loved traveling with Ted, visiting almost every state and later toured her ancestral home in Germany with family.
Visitation will take place Wednesday, October 9th from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Woody Funeral Home - 1771 N Parham Rd, Richmond, VA 23229. Memorial services will be held Thursday, October 10th at 1:00 p.m. at Three Chopt Presbyterian Church - 9315 Three Chopt Rd, Richmond, VA 23229, followed by burial at Westhampton Memorial Park - 10000 Patterson Ave, Richmond, VA 23238. A reception will follow afterward at the church.
