Frances Roach Costin

Frances worked in many departments for the Commonwealth of Virginia until her retirement. She was a Master Gardener and volunteered with the Boy Scouts of America. She was a member of Richmond’s First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and was active in the Children’s Music Ministry.

In addition to her parents, Frances was preceded in death by her husband, David T. DeJan. She is survived by her children; Winford C. Costin “Chico”, Katherine C. Rock “Kathy” (William L. Rock, Jr) and Philip S. T. Costin “Ted” (Marian C. Costin); grandchildren, William L Rock, III “Trip” (Jessica), Emily C. Costin, Samuel S. Rock “Sam” (Bailee Bannan), Christopher A. Rock “Chris”, Timothy P. Rock “Tim” (Linsey Pierre), Philip D.C. Costin “Phil”, and Reuben S. T. Costin; great-grandchildren, Rebecca, Freedom, Caleb, Jonah, Aislynn and Lily; as well as extended family and numerous friends.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, January 24, 2025, at Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Road, Henrico, VA 23229. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, January 25, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Richmond’s First Baptist Church, 2709 Monument Avenue, Richmond, VA 23220. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Frances’ name may be made to the Children’s Music Ministry at Richmond’s First Baptist Church.
