

Frances Estelle Rosen, 99, passed from this earth peacefully on February 18, 2012 to be with her family in heaven. She was born in Buckingham County on September 5, 1912, where she was raised until she moved to Richmond as a young adult. She spent her working years as a homemaker and professional seamstress sewing for many in Richmond's West End. She loved camping with her family and friends and was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Mrs. Kirby was predeceased by her mother and father, Bessie Florence Crews Rosen and Harry Harrison Rosen; sisters, Mabel Rosen, Virginia Butler and Grace Baldwin; brother, Robert Rosen; as well as her husband of many years, Charles Hunter "Bootsy" Kirby; beloved daughter, Juanita Kirby Woodson; and son-in-law, Charles Edward "Corky" Woodson. She is survived by her granddaughter, Robin Hunter Woodson Gannon (Kieran) of Annandale, Va.; and grandson, Charles Todd Woodson of Richmond. She is also survived by trusted and wise family member and loved one, Mr. Wilburn Ellis. Mrs. Kirby was a member of Patterson Avenue Baptist Church for many years and had come to know Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at a young age. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the caring staff of Imperial Plaza and to the devoted caregivers of Senior Solutions who have truly become like family members in maintaining Mrs. Kirby's well being in her later years. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Parham Chapel of Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Road.
