Fred and I first ran into each (literally) on the basketball court when we attended competing high schools. Later we were coworkers at Life of Virginia along with his future wife and we played basketball and softball on the company's teams. Fred was one of the nicest guys I have ever known and he was not only athletic but also always displayed sportsmanship. I know he will be greatly missed.
