Gregory Fisher Burnette

Gregory Fisher Burnette, of Henrico, born September 11, 1957, died August 6, 2014. He was the son of the late Donald G. Burnette and Betty F. Burnette. He is survived by his brother, Donald Gray Burnette Jr. and wife Susan; nieces, Jessica Dodson and husband, Duke and Amanda; nephew, Gray; and great-nephew, Tripp. Greg was a 1975 graduate of Douglas Freeman High School, where he was an All-Regional golfer and basketball letterman and a 1979 graduate of Hampden-Sydney College, where he was a member of Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He was an employee of Verizon for over 30 years, the majority of which were spent in the facilities management group. He also worked for JLL in a similary capacity. He was much beloved by his fellow workers. Greg was an active participant and long-time supporter of Special Olympics. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 13, from 6 to 7 p.m., with a short service following at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Rd. The family requests contributions be made to Special Olympics Virginia, 3212 Skipwith Rd., Suite 100, Richmond, Va., 23294.
