

Keith was born in the town of Baldwin located in Long Island, New York. His parents were Harry and Muriel Vetter who pre-deceased him. Keith had two siblings Jill Zidar and Kevin Vetter. His sister recently passed away on February 22, 2018. His brother currently lives in San Antonio, Texas.
Keith was an avid reader and holder of multiple degrees. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in 1964 from Cornell University. In the following year, Cornell awarded Keith a Master’s Degree in Engineering with a Minor in History. Later, he achieved his PhD from Case Western University and was awarded a Doctor of Philosophy for Computer Control Systems in 1971 from Case Western University.
Upon graduation Keith first worked for The Corning Glass Company in Corning, New York. In 1979 he began decades of consistent and dedicated service to The Reynolds Metals Company (later Alcoa, Inc./Reynolds Packaging Group) until 2008. Upon his retirement his title was Manager of the Manufacturing Automation Group.
Keith married his beloved Ingrid in 1992. He treasured their family home “Dux Tor” in the woods of Goochland County, Virginia. Keith and Ingrid entertained here, hosted their children and grandchildren and worked in their garden together while defending it from the squirrel and deer population.
Keith and Ingrid literally traveled the world together including Germany, Greece, Scotland, France, Italy, Ireland, Canada and The United States.
Keith lived a life of service to his family, friends and co-workers. Like his Father, he was a talented wood worker. He absolutely loved English Setters as well as John Wayne.
Keith felt grateful for and enjoyed his three step-children, Margo (husband Chris), Keith (wife Betty) and Kevin. He was particularly grateful for his nine grandchildren: Christina, Randi, Kevin, Samantha, Kimberlee, Bradley, Victoria, Wayne and Amanda. He is also survived by his brother Kevin and his wife Karen and their children Sean and Sarah, his brother in law Tom Zidar and his children Mary and Danny.
A viewing will be held on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at 2PM – 6PM Woody Funeral Home – Parham located on 1771 North Parham Road, Richmond, VA 23229 and a funeral service will be held on Sunday, April 8, 2018 at 2:30PM at Trinity Lutheran Church located at 2315 N. Parham Road, Henrico, VA 23229.
