

Cora “Isabelle” Elmore Cook, 92, of Richmond, Virginia, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2026.
Born on November 13, 1933, in Dorr, West Virginia, Isabelle was the daughter of the late Theodore Roosevelt Elmore and Edna Pearl Wimmer Elmore. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Oswald “Bubba” Cook; her sister, Helen Elmore Taylor; her brothers, Henry Elmore (infant), Larry Elmore, Donnie Elmore, and Benny Elmore; her great-grandson, Henry Cook (infant); her niece, Amy Elmore; her nephew, Micky Elmore; her sisters-in-law, Dorothy and Shirley Elmore; and her brother-in-law, Micky Carter.
Isabelle graduated from St. Luke’s Nursing School in Richmond and devoted many years to caring for others through her work as a nurse. She lived and worked in Hampton, South Carolina, before returning to Virginia, where she continued her nursing career at Johnston-Willis Hospital in Richmond.
Family was the center of Isabelle’s life. She is lovingly survived by her three children: Cindy Adams; Tim Cook and wife Holli; and Jeff Cook and wife Lori.
She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Evan Orwin and husband Tom, Jacob Cook and wife Sara, Schyler Haubrock and husband Ryan, Tori Shelton and husband Jonathan, Olivia Jessee and husband Ben, Logan Cook, Luke Cook and wife Haylie, and Taylor Adams.
One of Isabelle’s greatest joys was spending time with her many great-grandchildren: Thomas, Walter, and Ruby Orwin; Raegan, Hattie, Mackenzie, and Tatum Cook; Emeline, Landon, and Aubrey Haubrock; Kinsley Shelton; Elena, Claire, and Anna Jessee; Violet, Eleanor, Henry (preceded her in death), Orla, and Maeve Cook.
She is also survived by her sisters, Naomi Painter and Rachel Carter; her brother, Dale Elmore and wife Bonnie; her brother-in-law, Lawrence Taylor; her sisters-in-law, Betty Cook and Linda Cook and husband Marvin; niece Donna Malone; and many more beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Our family would like to recognize Julie Jalbert Oley, Jay Fleisher, Tony Adams, Carrie Overstreet Kostka, the Davis Family, Anne Collins, and all the nurses at Chapters Hospice for their love and service through the years.
We would also like to extend our deepest gratitude to Catherine and Mark Girsham of Admired and Retired, whose love and care brought much joy to Isabelle in her final months.
Isabelle will be remembered for her kind and gentle spirit, her warm heart, and her unforgettable fried chicken. She had a gift for making everyone feel welcome and cared for, and her love for family and friends was evident in everything she did.
Her memory will be treasured by all who knew and loved her.
