

Jacqueline Chappelle Everett, 100, passed away on June 8, 2013. She was born on September 9, 1912 in Holtwood, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Marie Drummond Chappelle and Ernest Lee Chappelle and was the widow of Edward Hale Everett, “Pete.” She was predeceased by her three sisters, Maxine Callaham, Evelyn Bricker and Billye Spears. She was raised in Amherst, Virginia, attended Sweetbriar College and was a graduate of Smithdeal Massey Business College in Richmond, Virginia. Upon graduation, she first worked in the Virginia State Senate, then the Internal Revenue Service, where she met her husband. Later, she enjoyed working with the Virginia Guernsey Breeders Association for many years until retirement. She was a founding member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Everett endlessly devoted herself to her family; she was always supportive of her children’s activities and ventures. She volunteered with the Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, Pee Wee football and was a “room mother” numerous years. She enjoyed people and always had a beautiful smile for everyone she met. “Jackie” as she was known by many, had a deep love and respect for all animals, large and small, and often spoke of the many pets she cared for throughout her long and distinguished lifetime.
Survivors include her children, Jacqueline Hale Carpenter and husband Jim, Donald Edward Everett and wife Kathleen, and John Kennon Everett. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, one niece and two nephews.
A funeral service will be held 11:30 a.m. Friday at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Road, followed by burial in Westhampton Memorial Park. Flowers are appreciated as well as contributions to the American Heart Association, 7272 Greenville Ave., Dallas, TX 75231.
