

Jacqueline Fay (Nipper) Laskey, 94, of Henrico County, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 24, 2022. She was preceded in death by husband, Howard Leighton Laskey; father, Paul Roland Nipper; mother, Gladys Fay Van Tassel Nipper; and brothers, Paul R. Nipper, Rodney M. Nipper, and Robert D. Nipper; and grandchild, James P. Lawyer Jr.
Jacqueline and her brothers were raised by their Aunt Zola Nipper Adock and Uncle Benton Adock in Strawberry Plains, Tennessee where they were members of Thorn Grove Christian Church. Jacqueline loved to tell the story of her crossing the French Broad River to attend college in Knoxville at the age of 18. Her years at Johnson Bible College were some of her fondest memories. Jacqueline earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1950 from Johnson (Bible College) University and a Master of Religious Education from Butler University in 1953.
Jacqueline was the original founder of Comm-Tronics, Inc. of Glen Burnie, Maryland in 1967 with late husband, Howard Laskey, where she served as Owner and CEO from 1984 to 1995 upon her retirement. Her long-time dear friend, employee, and business partner, Michael Crider, was VP and General Manager from 1984 through 1995 until he became the Owner and CEO in 1995. “My friendship with Jacque spanned from my teenage years to retirement age. She affected my life in countless ways along every stage. After her departure from Comm-Tronics, I routinely sought her opinions and views concerning problems in my role as next generation owner of the company. “
During her 38 years living in Maryland, she had a full and wonderful life and developed many long-time friendships, including Jane Stose, the late Mitzi Bunn, Anni Schnabel, and Sunny Campbell who remained close friends until her passing.
Jacqueline moved to Richmond, Virginia in 2005 and became a member of Second Baptist Church, Richmond, Virginia where she played bridge for many years. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchild enjoyed wonderful years with Jacqueline and visited her often in Richmond. Jacqueline’s family and friends enjoyed her great wit, kindness, unlimited generosity, and will miss her immensely.
Jacqueline is survived by children, Terri L. Fauber, Scotty A. Lathe (Greg) and H. Leighton Laskey II.; grandchildren, Shannon M. Lawyer, Ryan L. Fauber and Erin K. Savarie (Stephen); great-grandchild, Skylar A. Beckner; Nieces and nephew, Diane Nipper Cassidy (Doug), Rebecca Nipper Bell (Steve), Robert Dean Nipper, Jr.; and fifteen beloved grand and great-grand nieces and nephews.
Jacqueline was an avid animal lover and supported many animal rescue groups. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Richmond SPCA. A private service and entombment were held at Greenwood Memorial Gardens on April 28, 2022.
