

LOUGHRIE, Janice H., 66, of Richmond, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2017. She was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, James H. Loughrie. She is survived by her son, Neil A. Loughrie of Los Angeles, Calif.; daughter, Blair E. Loughrie of Jackson Hole, Wyo.; sister, Patti H. Hamilton and her husband, Scott of Richmond; two brothers, William “Bud” Hollis of Atlanta, Ga. and Russell Hollis of Knoxville, Tenn.; nephews, Roy, Will and Patrick Hamilton; her faithful dog, Libby; and many dear friends.
Janice graduated with a degree in mathematics from North Georgia College and was a founding member of Kappa Delta sorority. She started her career with Citizens and Southern National Bank in Atlanta, Ga., settling in Richmond in 1978. For 31 years, she worked as an Information Technologist with the Virginia Department of Social Services.
Janice was involved in various organizations through the years, including Avalon Recreation Association Board of Directors, Dogs on Call, Jill’s Blankets, and Tirzah International. She enjoyed sewing projects, decorating her home, solving puzzles and spending time with her family and many friends. She will be deeply missed.
The family will receive friends Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Rd. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Second Baptist Church. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to VCU Massey Cancer Center.
