Obituary of Jeannette Ankrum Evans
Jeannette M. Ankrum Evans, of Richmond, passed away on November 17, 2013 at age 74. Jeannette was a most loving mother to her two sons, Air National Guard Lt. Col. Eliot G. Evans of Arlington and Brian J. Evans and wife, Julie E. Tea, of Hanover; as well as a devoted grandmother (known as "Jin-Jin") to her beloved grandson, Benjamin J. Evans. She is survived by these cherished family members, treasured friends from across Virginia and her Tri-Delta sisters. Jeannette was the daughter of the late James T. and Eunice L. Jennings Ankrum of West Point and sister of the late Jan G. Ankrum of West Point. A dedicated student, Jeannette was a graduate of West Point High School and The College of William & Mary. She lent her talents to the world via her work in early childhood education, hotel management and sales, as general manager for Forever Living Products for Virginia and Maryland, and in human resources management for Chesapeake Display and Packaging. Most recently, she was an award-winning kitchen designer for Home Depot. Jeannette was an avid golfer and garnered her fair share of West Point Country Club winners' cups over the years. Indeed, she relished games of all kinds and was known for her fun-loving, competitive spirit. She was also a lover of animals small and large and a frequent visitor to zoos around the country. She will be forever remembered for her warmth, authenticity, great humor, compassion for others, spirituality and thoughtfulness. Family and friends are invited to visitations at Woody Funeral Home, Parham, at 1771 North Parham Rd., on Sunday, November 24, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 to 4 p.m., to be followed by a 4:30 p.m. celebration of Jeannette's life at the home of Brian and Julie (directions to be provided).
