Jerry Dean Morris was born on March 30, 1945, in Hereford, Texas to Claude Lee and Anita Willis Morris, and passed away peacefully in Richmond, VA, on November 14, 2024. Raised in Dimmitt, Texas, Jerry was a graduate of Dimmitt High School and continued his education at Texas Tech University where he was a proud member of the Saddle Tramps and the Raider Red mascot, before earning his master’s degree from Southern Methodist University.
Jerry was a Texas Panhandle farm boy with a deep curiosity and desire to learn. This drive led him to finish college and serve his country with honor in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War and then later in the Coast Guard Reserves. After his service in the Air Force, he moved to Dallas, where he earned his advanced degree and began his career with the City of Dallas before transitioning to corporate training, where he shared his knowledge and passion for helping others succeed.
Jerry was known for his warm heart and his gift for connecting with people. He loved to dance, was quick to tell a joke or story and he never met a stranger. A kind soul, he was always eager to lend a helping hand, whether to a friend or a stranger in need. Above all, he cherished his family and held them close to his heart.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Linda; his daughters, Holly Raidabaugh (husband Adam and son JD) and Carrie Carpenter (husband Dwayne and son Ezra). Jerry’s kindness, warmth, infectious laugh and love will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, December 7, at Woody Funeral Home - Parham Chapel at 11 AM. Friends and family are invited to gather in honor of a man who made the world a kinder place and touched countless lives.
In loving memory, we celebrate Jerry’s life and the love he shared with all who knew him. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations are made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the charity of your choice.
