Joe Reginald Brown

Brown, Joe Reginald, 86, of Martinsville, Va. died Monday, January 25, 2016 in Richmond, Va. He was born on January 26, 1929 in Narrows, Va. He was the son of the late Cyrus Wells Brown and Lyda Hale Brown. Mr. Brown proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He received the Bronze Star in honor of his brave service in Korea. Mr. Brown graduated from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. His career began as a public accountant for A.M. Pullen and Company, Richmond, Va. He then worked for Craddock Terry Company, Lynchburg, Va. and finally served as Treasurer of Pannill Knitting Company, Martinsville, Va. until 1990.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Moye Brown. Surviving are one daughter, Patricia B. Holder and husband James E. Holder of Henrico, Va.; son, William H. Brown of Glen Allen, Va. and grandchildren, Kate Thorn and husband Sam Thorn of Churchton, MD Emily Bauer and husband Craig Bauer of Richmond, Va., Patrick Holder of Charlotte, NC, Austin Brown of Richmond, Va. and Hamilton Brown of Glen Allen, Va.

Mr. Brown’s family wishes to thank his close companions and friends Rodney Draper and Dorothy Blankenship for their kindness and great care they provided him. The family request that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Pamplin College of Business at Virginia Tech.
