Obituary of John Edward Ehrmantraut
John Edward Ehrmantraut, Jr., age 75, of Richmond, VA, passed away on July 13, 2021, after a long and heroic battle with cancer. He graduated from O'Connell High School in McLean, VA and got his college degree at UNC Chapel Hill, NC. John proudly served in the military during the Vietnam War. John was a scholar with a BA degree in history and a doctorate in psychology. He worked at the Virginia Treatment Center for Children and later served as clinical director at the Bon Air Juvenile Correction Center, retiring from there 7 years ago. He also maintained a private practice at the Westwood Group. He loved his work with clients and he loved working with his team at Bon Air. John was a passionate seeker of truth which he pursued through scholarly studies of history, philosophy and religion as well as an openness to what he could learn from his clients and from everyday life. He could speak with authority on the writings of Plato, the impact of the Viking invasion on Western Europe. He would then finish with a discourse on Bugs Bunny, his childhood hero. John was fascinated by all cultures and had a profound awareness of our deep connection with each other. John loved his family, especially his daughters Jennifer and Laura and his son-in-law, Terence Hall, granddaughter, Greta Hall, and his dog Daisy. John was preceded in death by his parents, John Edward Ehrmantraut, Sr. and Lillian McCain Ehrmantraut. Surviving are his loving wife of 32 years, Terrie Buczek, his sisters Susan Tobin (Bruce), Anita Storino (Donne), Beth Paterson (Andy), and numerous nieces and nephews.
