I got to know John when we went from The Brandermill Church to sing at Holly Inn twice a month - what a gentle man and a dapper dresser - after he moved upstairs we would stop by to say hello - your dad was a bright light in our visits!

We missed seeing Mr. Lyons in his usual spot during our regular pet therapy visit tonight at Brandermill Woods. He was a great favorite of my Poodle, Jem. The Caring Canines volunteers often heard about the “police dogs” that were part of his life while Mr. Lyons happily petted our dogs.  Our Caring Canines dogs and their human partners will miss this kind man. May happy memories comfort you at this sad time.

I am a member of the Church of Epiphany in VA and I knew John through Communion call visits to Brandermill Woods.  What a wonderful experience it was for me to bring Communion to John on Sunday mornings.  John was always very grateful and I felt extremely blessed after my visit.  John loved to talk about his family and he never failed to mention his love for his wife, Madeline.  I will miss him.

I knew your Dad through visits to Brandermill Woods when our church ministry team shared communion with him.  He never failed to make the visits uplifting for us. I always marveled at this.  We were visiting yet he made us feel good.   John's presence added so much.  John was always hopeful and interested in how we were.  Know he will be greatly missed.
