Johnny was known as a laid back, easy going, tender hearted man and could often be found by the seaside of the Outer Banks or in the Blue Ridge mountains. He loved to relax while watching the Andy Griffith show, listening to classic rock music or playing guitar. Music was a large part of his life and attending concerts was a favorite travel adventure. His favorite band was Tesla and he saw them many times alongside his dear friend, coworker and “the son he never had”, Matt Yesbeck. He also enjoyed sitting by a bonfire or camping and being outdoors but above all that he was a devoted family man. Johnny cherished time spent with family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed watching sports and shared the love of the Pittsburgh Steelers with his daughter, Ashlea, but his favorite sporting events were those of his grandchildren, he attended as many of their sporting events as he could and served as one of their biggest cheerleaders.
